Policy on Alcohol
Service
The Anniston Museum
Board has established the following policy concerning the
service of alcohol beverages on Museum property:
1. No
alcohol will be sold on Museum premises. The Museum is not
licensed to Sell alcohol.
2. The
Museum will strictly adhere to all laws of the State of Alabama
and notice of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Alcohol
will not be served to minors. Bartenders must check birth dates
or identification cards when age is in question.
3.
Notice will be prominently posted
at all bars as follows:
“The Anniston Museum
of Natural History will not serve alcoholic beverages to minors
or to any person who appears to be (1) intoxicated, (2) mentally
impaired by intoxication, or (3) who could become mentally
impaired by the service of alcohol to that person. The Museum
reserves the sole right to determine to whom service will be
made.”
4. A
security officer licensed to do business within the City of
Anniston must be retained during all Museum or non-Museum
functions at which alcohol is served. Two such officers will be
required when 41 or more persons are present for the function.
Renting organizations will be responsible for scheduling and
payment of security officers. This will not be arranged by the
Museum.
5. Security
officer(s) must be present prior to serving alcoholic beverages
of any kind. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed in the
Museum facility or on the surrounding grounds unless the
security officer(s) is present. All alcoholic beverages will be
removed from the premises or locked inside the Museum building
at the end of each function.
6. Security
officer(s) duties include: Keeping the peace, ensuring that no
alcohol leave the premises, no individual will be driving
intoxicated, remain on the premises until officer is confident
no one will be in danger of driving intoxicated.
7. The
Anniston Museum Board will not tolerate excessive alcohol
consumption on Museum property.
8. No
employee, volunteer, or hired bartender will serve or
participate in the serving of any intoxicated or inebriated
person or anyone who appears to be intoxicated, inebriated, or
“drunk”.
9. It
is understood that the Museum Board will fully support staff
decisions regarding intoxication.
10. When
a person has been refused service, the Security Guard (s) &
event host (facility renter) should take all steps possible to
discourage the intoxicated person from driving. Some
suggestions are:
· Offer
to drive the individual home.
· Offer
to call a taxi for the individual.
· Talk
to friends of the intoxicated person and get their assurance
that they will not let the individual drive.
